Hello! My name's Gale, pleased to meet you informally, and I have the distinct honour of being your temporary warden for the upcoming month. While I realize this pairing isn't permanent, I'd be remiss to not do what I can to try and help you along, if you're amicable to the idea. Perhaps it would be best if we can meet in person?
[ She is not... in the best mood she possibly could be in... after that flood.... ]
Is it a bloody honor? Oh boy. You know that damn Admiral failed to mention that every warden on this boat was going to be a man. Almost makes me want to change my ways just to help out with the damn numbers.
( For his part, at least, Gale doesn't seem too offended by her bluntness. )
I'm afraid there's little I could do to change my current state of being. A spell of disguise, perhaps, but that would be disingenuous. I can leave you more or less to your own devices for the month, if you'd prefer.
[ There are many voices that both of them might recognize on the network, but it is very clear that they come from the dead. They lament and they wail, but they cannot be spoken to; they do not answer.
And then there is Qetzi: ]
Daddy. Daddy I can hear you. Don't listen to them, I can hear you.
[Here comes Misty with a message she's been mulling over for a month. A week ago, it would have taken a different form; now, though, part of the choice of it all has been made for her, by the Barge or the Admiral or whatever other mysterious force is responsible for disappearances.
There's no uncertainty in her voice, the way there would have been before Hannah's departure. Now there's just wistfulness.]
[ She has to think about that for a second, but she has a great capacity for holding other lives and remembering their secrets. It's a little bit like magic, recalling into the right tome for the right gesture, the right words, the right blood. ]
Frog princess. No. She wouldn't know me, and I wasn't feeling spiteful enough to try scaring it into her.
[ The scrape of a chair as she leans back thoughtfully. ]
Chase isn't one for messaging over the network if he can find someone in person, so he comes looking for Qetzi'ah, starting at her cabin and branching out from there. He knows who she is, but not her habits: he hasn't exactly paid that much attention.
Her cabin is dark and cluttered with ornaments on every surface as well as up the walls. One of her walls is devoted entirely to butterflies in frames. She also has one of Justine's monstrous artworks hung in here. Among the variety of other framed creatures and/or their skeletons are pictures of her family. Pale women with so much wild dark hair, round black eyes, and gleaming teeth. They stare from every angle.
Qetzi simply opens the door at his knock and leaves it open as she goes to throw herself down into an antique chair in the middle of all the sightless eyes.
"Including Barge time or not including Barge time?" he shoots back, brows up. The room is so very cliche-witch, he's almost amused by it. He drops into whatever other chair is available, or just stays standing if there isn't one. "How old are you?"
Hello, I think you've done this a few times? With the pairings, I mean. So you probably don't need me to tell you very much about it. Anything you think I should know?
Audio, just after pairings
My name is Godric. It seems as if we're assigned this month.

Did you talk to Hannah while she was here?

Did she worry you?

[God, how to put this. A few years ago it would have been pure nostalgia, but now...]
Bittersweet.
Why would she have worried me?

It's a temporary pairing anyway. I'm in a much better position to help with things like snacks and socks.
